The NHS AIS is a legal requirement covering all organisations that provide NHS or Adults Social Care. It says what reasonable adjustments they are REQUIRED to make with regards to communication and information for patients, service users, parents, guardians or carers who have a sensory loss.
More than just interpreting, it covers how people (both patients and carers) can book a GP appointment, how services record your communication preferences, and how they make sure that written information is accessible.
